Google Chrome TV Ad

For years I have been seeing commercials and Ads for lesser search engines and thought that they had gone about things all wrong. Ask ditched Jeeves a couple of years ago and set off with an advertising campaign which focused less on the new face of Ask and more on where the old face was heading off to. It was a cute idea, but overall lacking in bringing their message across.

Over the years we have seen sorry attempts by search engines to advertise their products and without fail they miss the mark when the very product they were trying to gain attention for is forgotten in light of the gimmick they used to draw attention to it in the first place.

Enter Google Chrome Ad. It’s simple. It’s cute. It’s attention grabbing and it has a single message: “Google Chrome. A New Way to Get Online.”

I’m not a huge fan of Google Chrome yet, as I personally think it has a little growing to do in the way of apps and userability, but it’s on its way. I think this commercial is a wonderful way to expose Google Chrome to the general public (Let’s be honest, not a whole lot of non-tech savvy people are using it right now) while delivering a subconscious message about how simple it is to use. Overall, I’d say that Google got this one right. What do you think?
